MARCON POLSKA is a Polish- American company founded to assist foreign
businessman to do business in Poland and Central European countries.
Its mission, along with its co-operating companies is to assist
foreign firms with developing markets for its products and services in
Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and other central and eastern European
countries.

Marcon Polska is a Polish business organization established
in 2001 by Andrzej Kurowski of Murowana Goslina, Poland and John J. Kurowski of
Belleville, Illinois, USA. Marcon is the culmination of many years of
planning and a dream fulfilled for two cousins of Polish descent.
The grandfathers of Messrs. Kurowski were brothers who immigrated to Detroit,
Michigan, USA in the first decade of the 20th century. Andrzej Kurowski,
the grandfather of Andrzej, returned to Poland permanently in the early
1920’s. His brother, Joseph, the grandfather of John, remained in
America and settled in East St. Louis, Illinois in the early 1920’s after
serving in the U.S. Army as a “doughboy” in World War I. Young
Andrzej’s father, Kazimierz Kurowski tried unsuccessfully over the years to
contact his cousins in America. In 1973, John, then a college student
studying in Italy, found his way to Poland and the home of Kazimierz for an
emotional family reunion. At the time John was 20 and young Andrzej was
12.
Kazimierz died in 1981 and the family lost touch for a while until Andrzej
traveled to America as a young ambitious, trade manager for a newly privatized
Polish company in 1991. Reciprocating on his cousin’s effort in 1973,
young Andrzej located his cousin John in Illinois and they have stayed in
constant contact since that time. John has visited Andrzej and his family
in Poland several times and Andrzej and his family traveled to America for an
extended visit with their cousins in 1999.
Andrzej
and John each are successful businessman. Together they bring unique
skills and experience to this international business venture.
John
Kurowski did his undergraduate work at Loyola University of Chicago and obtained
a law degree from St. Louis University. He has practiced law for 25 years
and is in involved in several businesses. He established his current firm
in 1983 which now employs 25 people. John’s practice is oriented
to litigation, business, and local government. It represents large
and small firms in environmental, general liability, employment and business
litigation throughout the country. His clients include several of
the largest insurers in America, Sears, Roebuck and Co., Daimler Chrysler and
several other manufacturing firms as well as financial institutions. His
practice is national in scope and he has served as a national coordinating
counsel for several firms in complex litigation. He is also the cofounder
of Global Staffing Strategies, Incorporated, a national staffing and health care
recruiting firm in St. Louis, Missouri.
John
studied for a year at Loyola’s foreign study program in Rome, Italy. He
is a frequent traveler to Europe and is proficient in Italian.
Andrzej
Kurowski is a graduate of the university and technical school in Poznan, Poland.
He now lives in Murowana Goslina, a northern suburb of Poznan,. Poznan, a
city of 600,000 people, lies halfway between Warsaw and Berlin and is the
commercial center of Wielkopolska (western Poland). Each summer the
largest trade fares in Europe come to Poznan, following the lead of their
medieval ancestors of the trade guilds.
Upon
completion of college, Andrzej began working for Pressta a large manufacturer of
munitions and mechanical products near Poznan. His time at Pressta
overlapped with the change to a market economy in Poland in the late 1980'2 nad
early 1990's. Starting as a production worker he rose to trade office
manager when he left the company to form his own business in November, 1994.
While at Pressta Andrzej was responsible for sales and marketing in most of the
former eastern block countries and former Soviet Republics. Andrzej has
conducted business in virtually all of these countries, including places as
diverse as the Ukraine, Bulgaria, Rumania, the Czech Republic and Kazahkstan.
He has contacts in most of these states and is fluent in Russian, German and
English.
In late
1994, Andrzej and his wife Maria took the bold and ambitious step of forming
their own business in the new market economy of Poland. Today HANT is a
leading seller and distributor of computers, cash registers and related
electronic equipment for retail and wholesale businesses throughout Wielkopolska
with sales approaching 500,000 USD. Started from the Kurowskis’ home in
1994, HANT today employs 15 salesman and 20 technicians that sell and service
their equipment in a 200 km radius of Poznan. It has several satellite
offices in the region and constructed and opened its own freestanding office and
service center in Murowana Goslina in 2001. This facility now also houses
the offices of MARCON.
Poland
is still a largely untapped market of 40 million people. Poland is now a
full member of NATO and expects entry into the EU in this decade. It
has adapted rapidly but cautiously to a market economy in the past twelve years.
Recognizing this untapped market, Andrzej and John have engaged in constant
planning and contact for the past three years in the establishment of an
international sales, marketing and distribution firm. The company was
organized in early 2001 and approved for doing business in Poland on August 3,
2001. MARCON offers the marketing and sales experience and contacts of
Andrzej and Maria Kurowski, the experienced sales staff developed by HANT and
the business experience and American contacts of John Kurowski.
